Una parte considerable de la población que puede votar en las elecciones del 7 de junio está convocada a jugar un papel distinto al que históricamente ha optado asumir: ciudadanos, no polizones.
La figura del polizón, no meramente literaria, la sugiere Fernando Savater en su libro ¡No te prives! Defensa de la ciudadanía (México, Ariel, 2014). El filósofo español, doctor honoris causa por la Universidad de Colima, la aplica para analizar el caso de los ciudadanos europeos frente a las elecciones continentales, pero puede extrapolarse.
El contexto y la embarcación son distintas: “Están acostumbrados –esos ciudadanos acomodados– a viajar como polizones en este gran yate que navega por un mar de necesidades y congojas planetarias: sin pagar billete como ciudadanos, pero también sin dejar de gruñir y quejarse en cuanto no se les atiende como es debido a bordo”.
Dejar de ser polizones, viajeros clandestinos u ociosos, con derechos a medias (y primeros sacrificados en hundimientos periódicos), es el reto que podrían representar en Colima las elecciones donde cambiarán casi todos los representantes populares locales y federales.
Asumirnos como ciudadanos, pagando boleto y ejerciendo el rol a cabalidad podría ser el gran bono que nos legaran las elecciones. O seguir al infinito, rehenes, dice Savater, de los eternos especialistas en mandar.
