La filosofía en la UdeC

Asistí hace algunas horas a la Pinacoteca de la Universidad de Colima para ser partícipe de la presentación de dos libros de profesores de la Escuela de Filosofía. Cuando recibí la invitación de uno de ellos acepté sin vacilar. Guardo por ese plantel un afecto sincero, por distintas razones: porque conozco a varios de sus profesores, he sido testigo de los enormes esfuerzos que han hecho sus directores y maestros para mantenerla viva, y por haber estudiado mi doctorado en la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la UNAM.

No soy filósofo ni lector consuetudinario de filosofía, aunque mi paso por la UNAM me acercó a algunos de los grandes exponentes, a quienes conocí entre sus aulas, pasillos y en el consejo interno de la División de Estudios de Posgrado, al que fui electo como uno de los dos representantes estudiantiles. Así, recuerdo vivamente a don Adolfo Sánchez Vázquez, a quien conocí en mi primer día en la UNAM; a Leopoldo Zea, siempre serio y siempre impecablemente vestido; a Enrique Dussel, argentino y mexicano; a la entonces directora, mujer y filósofa admirable, Juliana González; a mi profesor de Filosofía de las corrientes críticas en educación, un argentino brillante, Juan Carlos Geneyro.

No he leído los libros que se presentaron el miércoles 15, por eso no puedo comentarlos, pero sí reflexionar en torno al hecho y el significado que, para mí, tiene la filosofía y esa Escuela en la Universidad.

Mi respeto por la filosofía me conduce a pensar que una universidad sin filosofía, sin filósofos y sin pensamiento no existe, que puede ser una escuela técnica o empresarial, pero no una universidad, porque justamente las universidades tienen entre sus funciones más importantes las de pensar y enseñar a pensar. Por eso celebro este logro de la Escuela de Filosofía, de sus profesores, que entendieron a la perfección que solos, cada uno por su cuenta, no podían fortalecer a su escuela, pero que su cohesión en torno a objetivos y proyectos específicos les augura tiempos pródigos.

Hoy, las reglas del juego en la academia mexicana obligan a publicar, a escribir libros y a demostrar que se es capaz de sortear tal reto, aunque después nadie lea los libros, no se discutan y duerman en los almacenes, sin alimentar la formación de los estudiantes o los debates públicos sobre los temas que no pueden ser ajenos a la universidad. No es que todos los profesores universitarios sean egoístas o utilitarios, pero las reglas disgregan y, en ciertos momentos, balcanizan el campo académico. En el caso que comento, tengo la impresión, sin haber leído ninguno de ambos libros, como dije, que el espíritu que animó a escribir ambos textos es distinto, y aunque sirvan para acumular puntos y prestigio, principalmente son útiles para los propósitos que les originaron.

Una universidad sin un fuerte pilar en la filosofía, o con profesores que investigan solo en función de lo que a cada uno le parece, puede dejar de lado su función social, la enorme responsabilidad que tiene, especialmente en un momento en que los problemas convulsionan a la sociedad a extremos que ponen en riesgo la vida. Una universidad, decía, que no se compromete en una sociedad que, en palabras de Zygmunt Bauman, se vuelve líquida, es una universidad colocada de espaldas a su realidad.

Y los profesores de la Escuela de Filosofía dejan constancia de su posición y pueden, con justeza, afirmar que cumplen su responsabilidad, aquella que expresara magistralmente Federico Mayor Zaragoza siendo director general de la UNESCO: los profesores tenemos la obligación de bajar de las torres de marfil a las plazas de nuestros pueblos. Ese fue el camino que siguieron los profesores de filosofía al escribir uno de los libros.

Del resultado, es decir, del contenido de los libros habrá que escribir en otro momento, pero ahora me alegra la aparición de dos obras simbólicas que marcarán un punto y aparte, un renovado impulso a la filosofía en la Universidad y en Colima.  Eso creo, eso deseo.

    I think a book not easy to make and much less to publish to specify an event like this must have much knowledge the author and a love of writing and reading.

    The philosophy in my case I do not like by the management theory that is taught and my bad habit of not reading.

    I agree with Dr. Juan Carlos if there is no philosophy there is no university, every institution needs people thinking university and teach students to reason.

    Congratulations to the teachers who completed their workand have much exist in this and future.

    Personally, I don`t like philosophy, and sincerely I don`t think it is necessary, just because it isn`t fundamental, just theory, thoughts, men idea, and I find it boring. Even all this opinion I respect philosophy and all those men and women who study that, I definitely couldn`t … if I’m making A mistake with this comment, please correct me, I`m disposed to learn about new opinion, not about philosophy lol..

    I want ask applause to all teachers of philosophy. I think what you have everything reason and big humanistic in promote the books. I wait read soon the results of project philosophy. Respectfully the faculty of philosophy is the less importance give congratulation for raise a hand.

    I think that if teachers and even students of U de C make progress like publish a book, start and finish projects, etc. The U de C would have more prestige. As you say Juan Carlos; a university must have a close relationship with the society.

    Without philosophy the U d C wouldn’t have made a great progress with the teachers that wrote the books.The faculty of Philosophy has very good teachers and I think they should keep up the good work with the books! Great Job!

    Very good publication, I think that throughout the country and the world in schools there must be the area of philosophy. Because philosophers are those that help us to reflect on the things I believe k not would nothing if there was no philosophers in the world.

    You are right, an university without philosophy, would be a building for physic or application teaching, but not cultural and historic, that will help us to be better day to day ethically and morally, philosophy makes us think about how people distinguishes us from people who doesn’t has any education.

    I am with Carlos in my opinion the philosophy is very important for our education. For me personally I like it more practical than the theoretical but I think that both categories must be present to sustain a good education. I do not think a university is very prestigious much philosophy I go by what I practice.
