Las calles de esa ciudad

El lunes tuve oportunidad de caminar las calles del centro de Chihuahua. Sus edificios son de una arquitectura distinta a las de ciudades más próximas en la geografía y sentimientos.

No me detendré en detalles técnicos o artísticos porque carezco de autoridad. Veo las construcciones, me paro en lo que creo un buen ángulo y no estorba el tráfico humano, y sigo. Me gusta, no me gusta, me es indiferente, o algo así, mientras doy el siguiente paso hacia ninguna parte, habitualmente.

Esperaba un paseo menos agitado. PedĂ­ al taxista que me dejara en la peatonal, pero solo al bajar me di cuenta que, como las calles de otras ciudades, el comercio se instalĂł, se apoderĂł de las vĂ­as pĂşblicas, y sus gritos llamando a los clientes son semejantes, con variaciones producidas por los giros particulares del idioma. Pero la ropa, los negocios, los carteles, casi todo tan comĂşn, como si se calcara.

Aunque quisiera no verlos y andar sin prisa, era imposible. Lunes, día inhábil, cierre del “Buen fin”. La gente inundaba y la marea desenfadada te detenía aquí o allá.

Avancé con destino al restaurante que me recomendara el taxista, con los cerros frente a la vista y un inmenso 43 blanco en uno de ellos, a mi derecha. El ventarrón que cimbrara todo lo posible terminó con mis ganas de caminar y conocer la ciudad con los pies. Para colmo, el restaurante no estaba donde creí o entendí, y el hambre pasaba factura. Decidí que era hora de regresar los pasos y volver a la habitación.

La comida de los hoteles suele ser el área más descuidada. Si puedo optar, prefiero no comer allí, pero esta vez no había elección. La noche había sido corta; el sueño no consumado pesaba.

Dos personas me dieron versiones encontradas del temible flagelo de la violencia: una me convenció de que allí ya no pasa nada, que han cambiado las cosas; la otra, indiferente primero ante la pregunta, no me dejó decir una palabra luego de que la emprendió contra el peor gobierno de la historia en el estado, y otras linduras. Entonces, no sé si el temor evita a la gente salir.

El jueves volví los pasos a las mismas calles. La misma ruta por accidente, pero el paisaje fue distinto. Disfruté el paseo matinal, respiré el aire que circula entre la gente y pude mirar con detenimiento lo que escondía la vendimia, necesaria pero inapropiada en sitios así.

Hoy puedo decir que sentí las calles, que palpé la respiración de la ciudad, que la conocí un poquito. Pero ya solo es un recuerdo con el que cierro mi balance semanal.

    3.- I love to go for a walk through places of great view and history.

    2.- In my opinion i think Chihuahua is not as beautiful as you say, i see on TV Chihuahua, and i see the opposite.
    3.- It’s rare to enjoy a place that is dangerous, in my opinion.
    4.- If i had the opportunity to visit Chihuahua, i wouldn’t go, because im scare of the deliquency.

    1. I have only seen Chihuahua on TV, but it seems like a nice place. The turistical part, at least.

    2. I’m not that picky with food, so I wouldn’t care much for the food of the hotel.

    3. I think that what you heard from two people is a perfect expample of how people living in the same place can have such different opinions.

    4. I, personally, don’t like to walk in crows. I find it unsettling.

    4. I guess you didn’t get to try the local cuisine, and that is actually kinda sad, because that is one of the ves ways to know a new place.
