MINI LECCIÓN

Hoy recordé uno de los más torpes e injustos regaños en mi vida. En realidad, no llegó a serlo, por leve y porque lo creí totalmente absurdo. Ese día entramos al campus Villa de Álvarez de la Universidad. Al traspasar la puerta uno de los guardias me identificó: ¡Yáñez!, exclamó en tono que juzgué amistoso. ¡Hola, qué tal!, ¿cómo le va? O algo semejante. Un par de metros después vino la reprimenda: ¿por qué permites que te hablen de esa forma? Entonces ocupaba un alto puesto en la Universidad y mi acompañante creyó que aquello era una falta de respeto a la investidura. No supe responder de inmediato. Unos pasos adelante, para ganar tiempo, le pregunté por qué me decía eso. Tienes que hacer que te respeten, arguyó en tono falsamente pedagógico. Relajado ya, totalmente seguro del piso que me sostenía, sin mirarle a la cara le dije que el respeto no lo ganas con el temor ni las palabras ceremoniosas. Y para encender su contrariedad rematé: que el señor sepa quién soy y me salude por mi apellido, mientras yo no sé cómo se llama, me avergüenza.

Aquello sigo pensándolo hoy, con más razón que antes.

¿Qué le pasaría a este mundo, pienso, si en vez de miedo nos ganamos el respeto de la amabilidad, de la sonrisa, de la familiaridad? ¿Qué pasaría si la mano de los políticos saludara amistosa y no buscando ganancia, un voto, un favor?

    Su acompañante ha de ser de los que piensan que el cargo hace al hombre o que el respeto no permite el aprecio. Felizmente, usted sabe que las personas valen por lo que son y que la cercanía ayuda más al respeto que una hipócrita careta.

    Chistoso…y algo impactante. Todavía con lo de hacernos respetar a la antigua…forma sobre contenido. Desde luego casi la mitad del mundo cree que me llamo Edwards….Mi nombre es Arthur, mi apellido es Edwards. Por lo tanto casi la mitad de mis “conocidos” laborales me hablan por mi apellido….ha, ha!

    2.- when someone gets respect is because of the people he is not if he´s a boss or not.
    3.- with respect, i think your partner wasn´t respectfull.
    4.- i think that if the man at the door spoke like that it was because he knew who you are and he respect you.
